Linda Clayton currently works full time as an artist based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is mostly self taught and exhibits her work at a variety of shows and galleries in the area.
My artwork is whimsical, bright, and sometimes a bit surreal. My paintings begin as a rough sketch; a thought or image that through application of oil paints, they slowly morph into what they intended to become. Each piece is then sealed with varnish and all are done on canvas.
My work is defined by a foundation of vibrant colors and textures. Often, the colors are chosen even before the subject or composition. Ideas enter my head and buzz around, gathering momentum and volume until they can no longer be quieted. I have no choice but to immerse myself in music and bring my paintings to life. I find inspiration everywhere and in everyday. I am lucky to have kept the rose colored glasses of childhood that allow me to still see the dazzling wonder in this world and I endeavor to let this shine through in my work.
The purpose of my work is very simple. I hope that when looking at my paintings, viewers can steal a bit of laughter or find a camaraderie in the midst of a typically high-stress, fast paced world. Learn more about her at lindaclaytonart.com or on facebook.
