Glorious Hugs now offering healthy care packages for college students
New company now delivering joy and stress relief to college students too
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 8, 2015 – Dellwood, MN – Today’s college students face intense pressure to succeed in a competitive environment with escalating college costs and debt. This pressure can stress mental health. According to the 2013 University of Minnesota College Student Health Survey Report, 19.3% of students have been diagnosed with depression in the past 12 months and 29.3% report being unable to manage their stress level.1 To give parents, relatives and friends an easy way to show love and support to college students in a healthy way, Glorious Hugs is modifying its care packages to appeal to college students as well as seniors.
"College is an incredibly difficult time for lots of students because of all the big changes and pressures they face,” states Victoria Blakeborough, President of Active Minds at the University of Minnesota. “Often times their self care suffers, their stress levels rise, and they may struggle with things like their motivation and mental health. A care package with something to make them smile, take a break, and remember that someone cares about them can help lighten the load."
Developed with input from Active Minds at the University of Minnesota, the care packages are designed to provide students with new perspectives and joy. As opposed to sending a care package containing unhealthy processed snacks, pop and candy, people can feel good about sending Glorious Hugs care packages. Using the same beautiful, huggable box, each care package contains a piece of local handmade art, upbeat poetry, cookies, a stamped postcard to send to someone else, “Hugger” stickers, bubbles, superhero coloring pages with colored pencils, small musical toys, tips on managing your mental health and a handwritten card.
“When you’re too busy to send a care package from home, sending a Glorious Hugs care package is easy and shows an abundance of thoughtfulness and love,” states Mary MacCarthy, CEO and founder of Glorious Hugs LLC.
Glorious Hugs collaborates with some of the most acclaimed artists in the Twin Cities such as Guillermo Cuellar, Zac Spates, Marjorie Wade, Trish Gardiner, Linda Clayton and Lara Cornell. Care packages can be ordered online at glorioushugs.com for $39, $49 or $59 including shipping and handling or in a subscription.
